Patchwork Alchemy
In September of 2012, singer/songwriter Carolyn Light and guitar/sitar player Daniel Pierce teamed up to create music that would seamlessly blend older folk traditions and modern musical influences into one unique sound.
Taking a great deal of inspiration from ancient Appalachian hymns and dirges – as well as from traditional celtic and bluegrass music – Carolyn began to write songs intended to harken back to the tradition of storytelling through song. Daniel’s background in jazz, rock, and traditional Indian music allowed him to provide beautiful and unique arrangements to these songs. Between Carolyn’s clear, haunting vocals and traditionally inspired songwriting style, and Daniel’s ear for more modern genres of music, Patchwork achieves a sound that is simultaneously ancient and modern.
